Easiest and Healthiest Sweet Potato Dessert

This recipe is so simple that it’s almost not really a recipe. I think a better name would be – a tip on how to transform sweet potatoes into the healthiest dessert ever! 😍 Enjoy a treat that is as kind to your taste buds as it is to your body. ❤️ You may also enjoy it as a breakfast or a snack.

Other than beeing very tasty, sweet potatoes offer numerous health benefits. They are an excelent source of potassium, vital for every cell in our body to function optimally. In terms of nutritional value, sweet potatoes rank highly, providing significant nutrients for a relatively low cost. They are especially noted for their high antioxidant content, particularly when you include the skin, which contains nearly ten times more antioxidants than the flesh. In this recipe I am using the skin to get all that antioxidant goodness.

The color of a sweet potato is indicative of its nutritional content. So when you are choosing them, consider that the more intense the yellow or orange color, the higher is its nutritional value, with purple sweet potatoes being even healthier. Moreover, sweet potatoes possess unique proteins with potential anticancer effects, particularly against certain types of cancer like leukemia and tongue cancer and are being investigated for their therapeutic potential.

It’s worth noting that the method of cooking sweet potatoes can affect their nutritional content. Boiling is considered better for preserving their nutrients compared to other methods like baking. For this recipe, I did use steaming, since I prefer them best steamed, and with healthy food the most important thing is that you eat them, so prepare them the way you like them best. Sweet potatoes are not only packed with nutrition but are also affordable and versatile, making them an excellent choice for a healthy diet. 1

Hope you will enjoy them as much as I do. ❤️
