Apple and Oat Delight Buns: A Family Favorite
These Apple and Oat Buns hold a special place in our family, especially for my younger son who simply adores them. His love for apples is well-known in our household - he relishes them daily. So, it comes as no surprise that these buns, infused with his favorite fruit, are his top pick.
Ingredients
- 250 g whole grain spelt flour
- 100 g rolled oats
- 100 g millet flakes or more rolled oats instead
- 15 g baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- zest of one lemon
- 300 g grated tart-sweet apples with skin 3-4 apples
- 200 ml oat drink
- optional: a handful of chopped almonds for sprinkling on top or rolled oats
Instructions
- Mix well all dry ingredients: spelt flour, rolled oats, millet flakes, baking powder, and salt.
- Clean and grate the apples.
- Add grated lemon zest and grated apples to the dry ingredients.
- Add oat drink and mix everything well.
- Shape the mixture into five buns.
- Slice some almonds into strips and sprinkle them on top of the buns. Alternatively, sprinkle some rolled oats instead of almonds.
- Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 30-35 minutes.
- Let them cool slightly and serve warm or at room temperature.
